Comstock Public Schools has been awarded over one million dollars to assist in the electrification of our district's bus fleet!
The Environmental Protection Agency shared the news in a letter to the district:
The EPA Clean School Bus Program has selected approximately 530 rebate applicants for funding totaling nearly $900 million to support the purchase of over 3,400 buses, 92% of which will be electric. The EPA will distribute awards to school districts in nearly every state and Washington D.C., along with several federally recognized Tribes and U.S. territories. Prioritized school districts serving low-income, rural, and, or Tribal communities make up approximately 45% of the selected projects and will receive approximately 67% of the total funding.

Comstock Public Schools has been selected to receive $1,035,000 in rebate funding to purchase three clean school buses.
Comstock's Superintendent, Dr. Jeff Thoenes, had this to say upon hearing the news:
I've already been in contact with both Board of Education Alternative Energy Committee members, and we plan on convening a committee meeting soon to review the particulars and plan the next steps. We look forward to collaborating with Consumers Energy to make the opportunity this grant represents a reality for our District.
