The varsity girls basketball team earned a share of the BCS Championship with a win over Bridgman last night 50-28. This is something that hasn't been done in 24 years, and is a remarkable accomplishment for the girls. Ahkyla Blakely led the way with 12 points, but it was Kierra Lovelace who got the team going by scoring the team's first 9 points of the game before finishing with 11 points. Daisy Ansel finished with 8 points, 4 steals and 9 rebounds for the Colts.
The team finished conference play with a 9-1 record. They will conclude their regular season on Tuesday against non-conference Otsego. Last night's victory gives the Colts a tie with 9-1 Buchanan, so the teams will share conference champion honors.
The regional tournament begins on Monday, February 27 at home versus Parchment. The Colts handed Parchment a 63-21 loss earlier this month. Should Comstock pull off another victory, they would host Marshall for a March 1st contest.
Congrats to the entire team for a remarkable accomplishment!
