Dear Northeast Middle School Families,
I am glad to say that school is about to start. It is interesting how in June we are ready for some rest and then in September we are anxious to get the children back in the building. I hope you have enjoyed your summer. I will tell you that I have had a number of parents comment to me that it is time for the kids to go back to school. Send them in on September 7 for a half day. We will be ready!
Please take some time to go over the papers enclosed with this letter. It is a lot of information that helps all of us to be successful. Enclosed you will find an information verification form. We need correct addresses, phone numbers and contacts. Please indicate any changes. If your student has a medical condition or needs to take medication at school, you will need to complete new information for this year. Forms are available in the office for medication. Please send all completed forms to school with your student(s) on the second day of school.
Upcoming events to write in your calendar include
:
September
1 @ 6:30
Sixth Grade Orientation
September 9 @ 6:00
First PTG Meeting
September 16 @ 6:30
All School Open House
With two weeks until school starts we are still working on schedules and getting the building clean. As a result of the community passing the bond request, we will be looking forward to some new furniture, buses and technology during the school year. Thank you for supporting our schools with your vote.
Similar to last year, the first day of school students should not bring a back pack or any supplies. The agenda that day will focus on the school expectations and team building. Sixth grade students will be greeted at the bus and will gather with their advisory class in the cafeteria. Seventh and eighth grade students will meet in the gym. I would suggest delaying the purchase of any school supplies until after students have met their teachers and been informed of suggestions.
The middle school years have their own charm. As the children work their way from sixth through eighth grade there are many developmental challenges and achievements. There are certainly some less than charming moments but as soon as you think that you have had enough as a parent, they will move on to a new level of maturity and you will be relieved. We are all working toward the same goals, students who are kind, hardworking and learning a lot.
The committed staff at NEMS have years of experience to help make this the best year possible. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
Sincerely,
Kelley Howard
