ERNIE STAFFORD
January 14, 1933 – December 18, 1997

The Ernie Stafford Memorial Scholarship is seeking high school senior football players who have excelled both in the classroom and on the football field.

Ernie Stafford coached Rocket Football for Comstock for 28 years, and was director of the program for part of those years. Ernie had 12 undefeated seasons, and his teams won 3 Rocket Bowls. His coaching record was 135 wins, 25 losses and 6 ties. 

On October 24, 1998, Comstock High School honored Mr. Stafford during the half time of a football game presenting the family with a retired jersey, #28. 
In May of 1998 the Comstock Rocket Football association established this scholarship of $250.00 to be awarded annually to a senior football player to honor his memory.

CRITERIA TO QUALIFY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Comstock High School senior who played on the football team.
  • Applicants must possess a 2.8 GPA through seven semesters.
