October Projects!  Kindergarten and First Grade The kindergarteners and first graders continue to practice their mouse skills to create their own pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns. Using, the students played Make a Pumpkin of Carve It! to create their own pumpkins! If they finished early they could complete a Halloween-themed word search, practice typing, or match pumpkins!   Second Grade The second graders practiced their typing skills to write a description of a pumpkin. There were silly pumpkins, vampire pumpkins, and spooky pumpkins. We don't have a color printer, so we used crayons to liven up our short stories!

Keyboarding! All students have been practicing their keyboarding skills!  Kindergarten and First Grade Kindergartners and first graders can find all of the letters on the keyboard using Keyboard Zoo. They are taking very good care of the keyboard by tapping gently on the keys.  Second Grade Second graders have been practicing capitalizing letters using the "shift" key. Keyboard Climber 2 is the perfect game to practice their skills.  Third and Fourth Grade The third and fourth graders have been working hard using "home row" to improve their speed and accuracy. is a fun website that tracks their scores! Mr. Sasak's 4th grade class is leading in the WPM (words per minute) race!

Today's Materials: Computer Parts Microsoft Paint, Drag and Drop Computer Parts    Warm-Up K-1st 2nd 3rd-4th Lesson: Computer Parts We're learning about the different parts of the computer: mouse, keyboard, monitor, CPU, speaker, printer, and power supply. Daily Routine: Mouse and Typing Practice All students will have mouse or typing practice during each Technology Class! Each day, as soon as the students log on to the computers, they will each complete a mouse or typing activity based on their grade-level.  I will walk around the room and watch the students' skills! When 10-15 minutes of practice is up, we will start the weekly lesson!  Today's Materials: Kindergarten and First Login Practice, Login Practice Over the next few weeks, the students of Green Meadow and North Elementary will have their first computer class! This blog will be used by the students each time they come into class. This blog will share the day's agenda, and will also showcase the new technology that the students are learning in the classroom. Day One: The 3 Bs and Logging On The 3 Bs The 3 Bs are Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible. This is what the 3 Bs look like in our classroom.   Logging On All students are required to sign in to each computer they use with their own personal username and password. All students follow a pattern for their usernames. I will not share their passwords on this blog. Your username is your full last name, plus the first four letters of your first name. Example 1: Laura Webber is a student at North Laura's username is webberlaur Example 2: Timothy Williams is a student at Green Meadow Timothy's username is williamstimo FUN FRIDAY!
