Jay StickleJay Stickle

Teacher, Coach & AD - 1968-00

Jay and his teams received many accolades for their performances in competition.  In 1995, Jay was the Michigan High School tennis Coaches Association (MHSTCA) Class “B” Coach of the Year and was the Wolverine Conference Boys Tennis Coach of the Year in 2000.  From 1996-2000, his teams were honored by the MHSTCA for being Academic All-State Teams.  In golf, Jay’s teams won seven consecutive Wolverine Conference Championships from 1979-85.  Many of his players continued with golf by playing at the collegiate level or by serving as club professionals.  As Comstock’s Athletic Director, Jay always had his coaches’ and athletes’ best interest at the forefront of the program which made Jay extremely respected by his coaches, athletes and statewide athletic directors.

Along with Jay’s dedication to the students and staff at Comstock High School, he is a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  Jay mentored many new and young coaches as to the “Comstock and Wolverine Conference Way” and as one of those “new” coaches, I am grateful to him.

I am proud that my friend, Jay Stickle, is being inducted into the Comstock Athletic Hall of Fame. - John Holms
