Shannon Morford was an excellent student athlete during his years at CHS, compiling 8 athletic and 4 academic varsity letters. He qualified for the State Wrestling Tournament in 1986, ’87, ’88, ‘89 and was named to the All-State Team in Wrestling in 1987, ‘88, and ’89, culminating in his Individual State Championship in 1989. Some of Shannon’s other accomplishments during his 4 years as Comstock’s top grappler include: 4 time Regional Medalist, 4 time District Medalist, 2 time District Champion, 4 time Wolverine Conference Medalist, Wolverine Conference Champion, 3 time Wolverine Conference All-Conference Team, 4 time Comstock High School MVP, 2 Time State Wrestling Top Gun and 4 time Greater Kalamazoo All-Star. Shannon was a dominating presence on the wrestling mat compiling a career record of 133 wins and 23 losses with 93 of his victories coming by pinning his opponent. Shannon won numerous Invitational titles during his career and along with his teammates brought Comstock’s wrestling program from near extinction to a highly regarded program in the late ‘80s.
