Coaching Staff

Head Coach Tracy Daniel started the Comstock Girl's Golf Program in 2003. She has taken the program from club status in its first 2 years, to a varsity sport at CHS to the Wolverine Championship in 2013! The 2018 season marks Coach D's 31st year of teaching Physical Education for CPS, and her 16th season as head girl's golf coach, where she also served as the girl's golf chairperson for the Wolverine Conference for 5 years.

Coach D has coached several sports at CHS including Varsity Girl's softball (13 years), tennis (11 years), JV volleyball (6 years), and she has also been the Ski & Snowboard advisor/chaperone for 18 years.

Coach D is a TPI certified golf instructor and an advid low handicap golfer who LOVES THE GAME. She was a full scholarship All-Mid-American softball player at Western Michigan University, where she also played on the Bronco Volleyball team, winning MAC championships in both sports. In November of 2014,  she was inducted into the WMU Athletic Hall of Fame and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Wolverine Conference for her accomplishments.

While a prep at Portage Northern high school, she was an All-City Basketball, Volleyball and Softball performer and All-State Volleyball and Softball player. She also was the captain and setter on the 1st volleyball state championship team her senior year in 1982. She was an inaugural Hall of Fame inductee in the Portage Northern Athletic Hall of Fame in 1990, along with former CHS coach Tim Cashen.

Coach D's philosophy is to help her athletes gain a true appreciation of the game of golf: physically, mentally, and intellectually. Players achieve this with emphasis on their full swing mechanics, short game fundamentals, course management, positive self talk (mental game), and learning the proper etiquette, integrity, and manners of the game.

Coach D's style is intense and competitve, yet relaxed and fun loving! She works hard to instill that same mentality in her athletes. She stresses hard work, dedication, focused energy, commitment to team, and that all CC golfers honor the integrity of the game. She looks to inspire her players and help them appreciate golf as an enjoyable lifetime activity! Good Sportsmanship, honesty, patience and "under-reacting" to mistakes are key areas emphasized on the CC golf team... along with having fun and inspiring others to greatness!  GO COLTS!!!
