CPR/AED Certification & CAP 1 & 2 Training
The MHSAA has a proposal now being advanced that by the 2014-15 all coaches must be CPR/AED certified. In addition to the previous requirement, by the 2016-17 school year all varsity head coaches must have completed MHSAA Level 1 and Level 2 CAP training. Taking a proactive approach the Wolverine Conference will be hosting CAP programs over the next couple of years. The first offering will be August 8th, 2013 at Paw Paw HS starting at 11:00. This is prior to the conference fall coaches meeting. See registration link below:
We are encouraging all coaches all levels to take part in the CAP training. Any venue where sufficient number of attendees request CPR/AED training the MHSAA is willing to add this to the CAP 1 training at no additional charge, but will require an additional 90 minutes.
The MHSAA has always stressed athletes safety and the above requirements continue to align with that philosophy. Please encourage your assistants to attend as well. There will be a time in the near future will this will be required of all coaches, all levels.
The Comstock athletic department will reimburse any Comstock coach who completes these requirements. Please contact me with any questions.
