Welcome to Mrs. Furrow’s classroom!

I was born and raised in Ludington, MI, and am thrilled to be back in the Great Lakes State to teach writing at NEMS! As a daughter of two teachers, I never thought I would grow up to become one until I started working and volunteering at summer camps in high school. It was there that I discovered a love of working with middle school students and decided to dedicate my life to educating them! My college years were spent at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana where I had the privilege to study abroad, serve on my floor leadership team, and even publish poetry in the university literary journal. In 2015, I graduated with a B.S. in English Education, and quickly entered the teaching world!

After spending two years teaching 7th grade English in Fountain City, Indiana, I moved back up to Michigan and found myself in Kalamazoo. When I am not teaching, I am reading, listening to podcasts, and visiting every coffee shop I can find with my husband. I’m so thankful for my time at NEMS, and look forward to continue working with the 7th and 8th graders of Comstock.
